About this place
Tokunoya serves fine, long Sarashina-style soba. One diner who ordered tororo seiro—chilled soba with grated yam—said the noodles slipped down easily. For a meal centred on cold soba, options include tororo seiro, duck seiro and tempura seiro. A diner’s tempura-and-seiro order included two prawns, maitake mushroom, aubergine, shungiku and shishito peppers, making for a substantial lunch with the noodles.
There are hot dishes and rice bowls, too. A diner who chose curry nanban seemed pleased with the portion of soba. For a meal built around rice instead, there is katsudon; one review described its flavour as reminiscent of a traditional bowl, with broth soaking into the coating.
The restaurant has two large tables, and one solo diner found it easy to settle in. Another report mentions a raised tatami seating area as well as table seats. Whether you want a quick bowl of soba on your own or a more leisurely meal with tempura and drinking snacks, there are a few ways to make the meal your own.
